Book Discussion Questions!!!

• How did you experience the book?
• Were you immediately drawn into the story, or did it take you a while?
• Did the book intrigue, amuse, disturb, or irritate you?
• Are the characters fully developed as complex, emotional human being or are they one-dimensional (a character you can only see from one view)?
• Do any characters grow or change through the novel? How did they change?
• Is the story plot or character driven? In other words do events unfold quickly? Or is more time spent developing inner character lives?
• Which character did you like the most and why?
• Who would you like to meet in the book, if you could?
• Are there situations and/or characters you can relate to, if so how?
• What major emotion did the story evoke in you as a reader?
• Name your favorite part overall about the book. Your least favorite?
• If you could change something about the book what would it be and why?
• If you could be anyone in the novel who would you be and why?
• If you could rewrite the ending, would you?
• Can you pick out a passage that strikes you as profound or interesting or perhaps something that sums up the central dilemma of the book?
• Consider the ending. Did you expect it or were you surprised? Was it manipulative? Or was the story unresolved, ending on an ambiguous note?
• If you were to talk to the author, what would you want to know?
